Our roots are firmly in farming, we are a working dairy farm and took the decision to diversify into the company we are today not bad for farmers eh!.
Ok, so we cant do much about the damage that our cows gas does to the environment, but we can certainly minimise our carbon footprint from a company point of view.
Our Local Food Shop buys from suppliers based in Lancashire and Cumbria and our Butchery is supplied by our own farm as well as other local farmers.

Our Pudding House coffee shop and Cafe uses suppliers from the local area, with the meat from our own butchery and ice cream from our production unit on site.
Our ice cream is produced using our own dairy herds milk and the cream is brought in from two local dairy suppliers.
We only use local tradesmen for all our building and general maintenance work where possible.
We use local and regional packaging suppliers for our ice cream and butchery products.
We recycle our cardboard, glass and food wastes as well as some of the butchery waste.
We even feed raw vegetable trimmings to our rare-breed sheep and Maran hens whose eggs we sell in the Local Food Shop.
Our office is becoming more and more environmentally friendly with office paper and other products being recycled through a local scheme.
Some of our staff even have a car sharing agreement in order to keep cars off the road! Others have been known to use pedal power (not always happy about it though!).
The answer is A LOT.
We feel that every business should look closely at how they impact on the environment and do their bit.
We are looking at using and selling more and more environmentally friendly products. Our restaurants Christmas menu has, for the first time, been printed on paper from sustainable, managed forests we believe that is the right thing to do.
We think that we are well on the way to being able to say that with pride.
